It’s Taco Tuesday!
Tacos are one of those foods that you can eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert (hello Choco Taco) and still crave them the next day.
There are endless combinations of protein, spices, sauces, and toppings that you can truly make them your own and create unique pairings along the way. If you’re looking to spice things up for your next dinner, try some of these tasty taco and wine pairings courtesy of ONEHOPE resident sommelier, Garrett, below.
Taco: Barbacoa street tacos with cilantro and diced onion
Wine Pairing: Monterey County Reserve Pinot Noir
The red fruits and nutty notes won’t overpower the deep complex flavors in the slow-cooked pork shoulder. Also, the lower ABV (alcohol by volume) is more suitable for the spices used in making barbacoa.

Taco: Butter poached lobster tacos with a chive and citrus aioli
Wine Pairing: Carneros Reserve Chardonnay
The medium body and crisp tree fruit in our Chardonnay allow this wine to harmonize perfectly with the rich, sweet lobster.
Taco: Grilled fish tacos with napa cabbage slaw
The bright acidity and hints of citrus with our New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc will ideally complement this taco. If you go a little heavy on the spice rub or jalapeno – opt for a wine with a touch more residual sugar such as our Monterey County Reserve Riesling.
Taco: Grilled skirt steak tacos with cilantro and diced onion (sub grilled bell peppers and onions for a vegan option)
The classic pairing of flame grilled steak and bold Malbec is always a win-wine.
Taco: Crispy oyster taco with jicama & radish salad and chipotle crema (sub fried squash & zucchini for a vegan option)
Sparkling wine and fried food is one of our favorite pairing hacks! It’s a little sweet, a little salty, and a whole lotta yum!
Taco: Roasted or grilled pork loin tacos with goat cheese and heirloom tomato salad topped with fire roasted tomato aioli
Pork loin pairs can pair beautifully with both white and red. If roasting the pork loin, go with our Estate Fumé Blanc to compliment the goat cheese and juicy roast, or our Australian Shiraz if you choose to grill the pork and play off the charr with the richness of the red.
Taco: Soyrizo street taco with cilantro and diced onion (vegan)
Working with the spice of the soyrizo, you’ll want to pair this taco with a wine that has a touch of sweetness like a Riesling, or a light bodied, red fruit driven red. The light oak regiment in our Vintner Pinot Noir is perfect for meats with little kick.
