Hey babes! We love how simple – yet glamorous – Sheridan Gregory’s makeup routine is for photos. If you’re preparing for a friend-group photo session with us, makeup is probably on your list of priorities, alongside hair and outfits.
Along with Sheridan’s tips in her tutorial, here’s a few more from us to help you prepare for your photoshoot…
- Skincare is as important as your makeup. Don’t wait until the day before your photoshoot to give your skin the attention it deserves. Developing a healthy skincare routine weeks before your photoshoot will help immensely. Make sure you are cleansing, exfoliating and hydrating your skin regularly. Stick to the products you know and love (our favs are below) as trying new products for your photoshoot is a no-no since you don’t know how your skin will react.
2. When applying your makeup, do so in natural lighting as most of our photoshoots take place outdoors. Rather than relying on your bathroom light, open the blinds and let the sunshine in. This will help you apply your makeup in a way that looks more natural. If you apply makeup in artificial light, it will most definitely cause you to apply more makeup than you actually need and you don’t want your makeup caked on for photos. More isn’t always better!
3. Know what look you’re going for… All out glam? Bold and bright? Natural beauty? If you aren’t having your makeup done by a professional artist, it’s a good idea to try a few different looks in the days leading up to your photoshoot. Don’t wait until the last minute because trust us, it will cause you to feel stressed and if you show up to your session not feeling confident in how your makeup turned out, it will show in your photos. We want you feeling relaxed so you can enjoy the experience. So play around with outfits and different looks (especially eyeshadows) prior to so on the day of your session, you’ll have your look perfected and feel like the badass gorgeous babe you are!
4. Use false lashes to accentuate your eyes! There’s so many styles to chose from…. go with the ones that still look the most natural to your eye shape and size, but that still add some length and volume. Our favorite strip lashes and magnetic lashes to choose from are Kaotic Lashes – a company created by one of our best friends, Katie, who is a former law enforcement officer and 911 dispatcher, cancer survivor, foster mom and all around badass woman. We are EXSTATIC to be able to recommend her AMAZING lash line to you babes!
We hope this tutorial and these tips help you feel ready for your photoshoot. Feel free to reach out to us – or comment below – any time with questions! We can’t wait to see you & your girl friends soon for some wine and photo time!
